ABOUT US
We are two women with ADHD, together bringing almost 30 years of professional expertise alongside many more of lived experience to The Waiting Room.
We know first-hand the challenges, the waiting and the uncertainty that families and individuals face. That’s why we created The Waiting Room - a supportive space where evidence-based knowledge, lived experience and the latest neuroscience meet.
Alison Whiteley - Co-Founder
Alison is the COO of ADHD Lincs and was formally diagnosed with ADHD at age 51. With a professional background as a functional and technical consultant in software development, she also brings skills as a trained Counsellor, NLP Practitioner and Behavioural Tic Therapist. When her son was diagnosed with ADHD at age 10, Alison was struck by how much more there was to understand beyond the ‘classic’ symptoms. This curiosity turned into passion - leading her deep into neuroscience, brain development, emotional management and behavioural patterns. Since joining ADHD Lincs in 2022, Alison has reshaped the charity’s online presence with new branding, a website and active social media channels. Alongside Sharon, she attends national and international conferences, ensuring that families benefit from the very latest ADHD research and practical strategies.

Sharon Taylor - Co-Founder
Sharon Taylor (formerly O’Dell) is the CEO and Co-Founder of ADHD Lincs, with ove 30 years of experience supporting individuals and families affected by ADHD. Diagnosed with ADHD herself, and mum to two children with ADHD, Sharon has personally supported thousands of families - advocating in schools, paediatric meetings and children’s services, while also delivering training and sessions for professionals, children, parents and adults. Her expertise has reached professionals across education, healthcare, social care, emergency services and local government. She has played a key role in shaping ADHD services in Lincolnshire through her work on local boards and workstreams. Nationally and internationally, Sharon is recognised as a leader in the field. She has been a Trustee of ADDISS since 2002, is a Trustee of ADHD Europe, and is a Churchill Fellow researching how to prevent school avoidance in children with ADHD. She is also one of the UK’s few licensed 1-2-3 Magic Practitioners and a certified WhyTry Practitioner. Her dedication has earned multiple accolades, including the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire Award for Outstanding Service.
WHY WE BUILT THE WAITING ROOM
Over 30 years of supporting families and individuals with ADHD, we’ve seen first-hand how tough it is to navigate the assessment system and how much valuable time is lost while waiting.
Too often, people are left in limbo with no support at all during this stage, despite it being one of the most important times to learn more about yourself and build strategies that can make daily life easier.
That’s why we created The Waiting Room: a safe, supportive space filled with practical tools, reliable information and strategies you can start using right now.
You don’t have to wait for a diagnosis to get help -
The Waiting Room is here to give you hope, clarity and confidence today.

Our Journey So Far
Sarah B, Parent
"Until now, I have felt completely lost. School kept telling me my son just needed to ‘try harder,’ but I knew something deeper was going on. This is the first place that made me feel understood instead of judged."
Jo, 42
"I spent years masking and burning out in silence. I didn’t even know Executive Dysfunction had a name.
The Waiting Room is going to help me to understand myself in a way no GP or workplace ever has."
Hannah, partner of
ADHD adult
"I am so looking forward to this. My partner has ADHD and I wanted to understand him better. We’ve stopped arguing about ‘forgetting’ and started talking about Executive Function instead. Game changer."
